The terrace area is great for an al fresco breakfast to take in that amazing view – and of course, ideal for sitting out on balmy evenings and looking out over the Pennines listening to the sound of Curlew and Grouse chattering. We even provide a barbecue which is stored in the shed.
There is space for car parking in the front of this area – and to the right of the picture is the path that leads down to the shop and Rookhope Inn pub.
If you are bringing your own bikes or hiring locally, then the large shed is adequate for 4 bikes and secured with a Yale padlock.
In summer the County Durham hills and dales can be as gorgeous and warm as anywhere in Britain, with temperatures reaching the 30s ºC on occasions. Winter months will see snow appear here sooner than many other places as we are pretty high up here in the Pennines – the Ski clubs just up the dale give a hint at that!
Its fair to say that the old adage that “there’s no bad weather, just the wrong clothing” is one to remember – so make sure you pack layers and water/windproof outer clothes in case the sun’s not quite so bright. Check out the Walking Gear page where we’ve added a brief guide.
We hope you have a wonderful stay in Rookhope and recommend the Terrace Cottage to your friends.
